A Minute To Smile.
With the stock market closing for thefirst time in 27 years, today’s note is a positive stroke. During the return route of a recent road trip, a friend and I listened to a talk on smiling. Mother Teresa said, “I will never understand all the good that a simple smile can accomplish.” Social scientist have found that unborn babies smile in the womb and a blind infant smiles at its mother’s voice; children smile on average 400x per day, while 1/3 of he population smiles 20x per day – 14% of the population smiles less than 5x per day. The span of one’s smile could predict the length of their life; smiling increases relationship success. Here are a few benefits of smiling: builds trust, adds leniency, grin for insight, smirk for expression; smile and half the world smiles with you. “When you smile you don’t only appear to be more likable and courteous, you appear to be more competent.”
